Bangladesh inaugurates land port at Gobrakura

The Gobrakura-Karaitoli land port built under the Bangladesh Land Port Authority Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh district has been inaugurated recently.

State minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday unveiled the inaugural plaque named after prime minister Sheikh Hasina and addressed a rally at Gobrakura part of the land port.

The state minister said that due to the smart steps taken by the present government, it will be possible to build a smart Bangladesh before 2041. A commendable progress has been achieved in the shipping sector including the development and management of new ports since 2009.

Bangladesh Land Port Authority chairman Md Alamgir presided over the programme and parliament member Jewel Areng and Mymensingh deputy commissioner Md Enamul Haque spoke among others.

Mostafizar Rahman, additional police superintendent, Raihanul Islam, joint commissioner customs, Rizvi Ahmed and project director Md Hasan Ali were also present.

The Gobrakura-Karaitoli land port has been built at a cost of Tk 75.17 crore on 31.14 acres of land with the government funding.
