Bangladesh proceeds with construction of Laldia Container Terminal

This will be a deep draft terminal with a depth of 10.5 meters and will be able to berth vessels of 9.5 metres draft. It will have a quay length of 450 metres.

In order to study the design of the new terminal and negotiate with foreign companies, the Bangladesh government has appointed International Finance Corporation (IFC) as the advisor for construction of Laldia Container Terminal. This will be a deep draft terminal with a depth of 10.5 meters and will be able to berth vessels of 9.5 metres draft. It will have a quay length of 450 metres.

The construction will be carried out in a government-to-government arrangement. APM Terminals has proposed an investment of $400 million in building the terminal. The selected global private operator will design, build, finance, operate, and transfer the terminal on a PPP basis.
