Bangladesh suspends entry from India through land route

Bangladesh has suspended the entry of people from India through the land route for two weeks starting from 26 April in view of the surging cases of COVID 19 in India.

Bangladesh has suspended the entry of people from India through the land route for two weeks starting from 26 April in view of the surging cases of COVID 19 in India. Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen told the media in Dhaka on Sunday that the passenger travel is being suspended for the time being but trade will continue.
 
International flights including flights between India and Bangladesh are already suspended since April 14 in response to rapid rise of COVID 19 cases in Bangladesh.
 
After reporting a reduction in COVID 19 deaths over the last four days, on Saturday again the number of deaths crossed 100 in a single day. With 101 deaths on Saturday, the COVID 19 death toll in Bangladesh has gone up to 11,053. Country also reported 2922 new COVID 19 cases in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate was recorded at 13.33 percent marking a slight increase from 13.11 percent on Friday.
 
The mass vaccination against Coronavirus is continuing in Bangladesh. Till Saturday, more than 58 lakh people have received the first dose and over 23 lac people received the 2nd doses. However, due to shortage of the vaccine in the country, the government of Bangladesh announced that it will temporarily halt the first dose of COVID 19 vaccine from Monday.
