The Bedi Port located in Jamnagar of Gujarat has become the second port in Saurashtra to get direct rail connectivity. The port unloaded its debut consignment of coal last week. The Gulf of Kutch will have direct train access to the rest of the nation thanks to this railway line.

The Shipping Ministry is partnering with the Indian Railways on 93 port connectivity projects totalling Rs 77,224 crores. These railway updates can be considered as the biggest update because through this port 12.20 lakh tonnes are exported and 14.6 lakh tonnes are imported annually.

The first shipment to be loaded and ferried from the port using the new rail link was a shipment of imported coal. The Gujarat Electricity Board Siding in Sikka is where it is headed. The port facilitates a 14.6 lakh tonne yearly import and a 12.20 lakh tonne annual export. Limestone, met coke, pet coke, fertiliser, coal, and clinker are just a few of the products it offers.

Rail port connectivity has been a top project objective for the centre. The Shipping Ministry is partnering with the Indian Railways on 93 port connectivity projects totaling Rs 77,224 crores. These are under the Sagarmala scheme, and by May of current year, 33 of them, totaling Rs 9,610 crores, have been finished. The completion of another 60 is at varying stages.
