COVID -19 induced lock down has disrupted cargo operations at Indian Ports. Kolkata Port, Haldia Docks and Visakhapatnam Ports are no exception. Kolkata Port was operating at 70 percent of its capacity. Cargo operations on the shipping side were down by 20 percent. There are challenges in storage and movement of containers and in organising labour. Visakhapatnam Port recorded a 30 percent shortfall in cargo handling during the first two weeks of April. With issues at Nepal-India border there is huge pile up of containers at Nepal dry port at Birgunj.
In this webinar Port Trust Chairmen, CFS Operators, Shipping lines and Shippers will discuss the challenges so far in moving cargo on the eastern region.
