A subsidiary of CMA CGM has become the first foreign liner to operate domestic routes in the Philippines. Marcos’s administrations in Philippines recently took a decision to ease cabotage laws.
The 1,037 teu CNC Pilipinas has become the first foreign ship to operate exclusively on local trades in the Philippines, calling Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro. The ship belongs to CNC, CMA CGM’s intra-Asia specialist, and has now shifted to a new entity called CMA CGM Philippines Shipping.
CMA CGM Philippines Shipping employs a 100% Filipino crew in compliance with local regulations. CNC plans to add more ships and ports to its dedicated Philippines network soon.
