The Cochin Port Authority in collaboration with Indian Ports Association, organised a workshop on ‘Pathway for a Successful Green Hydrogen Pilot at Cochin Port.’ The workshop brought to the fore possibilities in hydrogen fuel development and how the port authority can help investors.
Over 50 industry partners from 25 institutions, including green hydrogen developers, consumers, electrolyser providers, and multilateral organizations attended the event.
Cochin Port Authority Chairman, B Kasiviswanathan informed, the port already has good experience in handling liquid cargo especially chemicals like ammonia. Thus the port can further bank on it in developing bunkering facility for green hydrogen and its derivatives.
The port will soon be closing a tender for a 60 KW electrolyser and aims to commission it in the next quarter. The Port Authority will invite proposal ideas from stakeholders in the upcoming months to finalize the scope of the pilot project. Shipping vessels, exports, and domestic use in fertilizer units and refinery complexes could be the priority off-takers for this pilot programme.
