A container containing Sodium Percarbonate Tablets used as oxygen supplement for fish pond went ablaze inside a yard at Chattogram Port. A container loaded with imported goods got damaged due to the fire. The fire broke out at around 8:30am but was controlled by 10:30am. The container was immediately removed so that the fire could not get spread to the adjoining containers. Fazle Ekram Chowdhury, Managing Director or Fazle & Sons, the private berth operator of the jetty, said the container was kept at a yard designated for storing dangerous cargo.

Eon Animal Health Products Ltd of Gazipur imported the container that arrived on a vessel named Cape Orient on May 9, according to officials. A four-member probe body was formed led by CPA Deputy Director (Security) SM Masudul Islam to investigate into the incident.
