Shipping Corporation of India resumes cruise service between Visakhapatnam and Port Blair. The tourism business is progressively returning to normalcy as the Covid-19 situation has returned to near-normalcy. On Saturday evening, the MV Campbell Bay, a passenger cargo ship, sailed from Port Blair with 450 passengers on board. Most of the passengers onboard the ship were from Northern Andhra Pradesh. On the morning of May 3, the ship anchored at Visakhapatnam port. The Shipping Corporation of India had earlier halted cruise operations for two years after the Coronavirus outbreak in India.
Most of the passengers were migrant workers, who are working in various parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, returning to their hometowns during summer vacation. As the sea route is cost effective, the migrant workers mostly travel through ships.
