DACHSER has introduced a new weekly LCL railway service from China to Europe to extend its comprehensive door-to-door logistics solutions between the two continents. The new service creates greater stability for handling worldwide supply chains when market condi-tions are often unpredictable.
“With capacity constraints becoming the limiting factor, the rail route to Europe became an integral part of the integrated sup-ply chain,” said Mr Edoardo Podestá, Managing Director Air & Sea Logistics Asia Pacific.

Dachser is using its own consolidation containers for rail transport between Wuhan/China and Ham-burg/Germany.

“Transport via railway is up to 80 per cent cheaper than air freight and 10-20 days faster than ocean freight,” explains Mr Echo Jin, Department Head Ocean Freight North China, who is managing railway at Dachser Shanghai.

The fixed weekly departures as well as all related upstream and downstream activities follow defined standards and schedules. Dedicated operational teams manage the com-plete process, from pre-carriage in China to delivery to the final destination in Europe within Dachser’s Road Logistics network. Service desks on both sides assure that processes run smoothly
