Over 108 mt projected for 2017-18
Deendayal Port has handled 88.86 lakh tonnes of cargo (Kandla and Vadinar) during February 2018 as against 78.66 lakh tonnes in February 2017, thereby achieving an increase of 10.20 lakh tonnes or 12.97 per cent.
During the current fiscal up to the end of February 2018, the port handled 998.75 lakh tonnes of traffic as against 963.36 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year, up 35.39 lakh tonnes or 3.67 per cent.
As regards dry cargo, the port handled 342.46 lakh tonnes of traffic in FY 2017-18 (up to February 2018) as against 327.94 lakh tonnes in FY 2016-17 (up to February 2017), an increase of 14.52 lakh tonnes or 4.43 per cent. The port also handled 132.34 lakh tonnes of liquid cargo in 2017-18 (up to February 2018) as against 118 lakh tonnes in 2016-17 (up to February 2017), an increase of 14.34 lakh tonnes or 12.15 per cent.
At Vadinar, where the port handles crude oil and POL (products), the throughput was 523.95 lakh tonnes in 2017-18 (up to February 2018) as against 517.42 lakh tonnes in 2016-17 (up to February 2017), up 6.53 lakh tonnes or 1.26 per cent.
Deendayal Port is all set to handle cargo throughput of more than 108 million tonnes during 2017-18.
