August 31, 2020: Logistics firm Delhivery is likely to expand its fleet size to 450 vehicles from the current 300 vehicles in the next 18-24 months and will be launching trucking hubs in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
The implementation of the above will be done with the investment of Rs. 300 crore the company recently announced, on the expansion of fleet size so that they are able to meet the rising demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company is planning to generate a revenue of Rs. 7,000 crore in the next two years, as compared to Rs. 2,800 generated last year.
Currently, Delhivery handles nearly 1.5 million orders per day in its express business and does over 3,000 tonnes of cargo a day.
In the past week, Delhivery joined hands with Volvo trucks to deploy a new transport system for express operations that will help them perform speedy delivery and earn more customers.
Volvo’s unique solution of a tractor-trailer combination, the Volvo FM 4×2, that has been running in Europe will be deployed by Delhivery to help the startup achieve faster turn-around time, expand its fleet and increase productivity, media reports said.
“We are building some of India’s largest trucking terminals at key locations in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore while expanding and upgrading our own fleet and bringing in more partner fleets. Our partnership with Volvo and the first deployment of Tractor-Trailers in Express Trucking is a significant step towards getting future-ready,” media reports quotes Sahil Barua, chief executive officer, and co-founder, Delhivery as saying.
