In light of the anomalies found during the handling of a recent shipment of gypsum that importer Indo Pacific Resources brought into the port, the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) has opened an investigation on Delta Infra Logistics Worldwide.
According to customs sources, Delta Infra Logistics Worldwide was fined Rs 15,000 by Goa customs for handling the shipment of 19,998 metric tons of gypsum cargo that Indo Pacific Resources brought into MPA. MPA also opened an investigation against the company for allegedly transporting an unknown amount of imported gypsum out of the port boundary by barges on the evenings of October 19 and 20.
However, papers from leading MPA sources indicate that on October 23, the Traffic Department delivered a letter to Delta Infra Logistics Worldwide explaining why no action should be taken against the company.
According to top sources, the MPA also sent a private letter to the assistant commissioner of customs, pointing out that Delta Infra Logistics Worldwide had violated the rules by accepting cargo deliveries without a weighbridge.
