DGTR recommends 5 per cent increased duty on Malaysian palm oil imports

After a safeguard duty probe into imports from Malaysia following a complaint, the Director-General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has recommended increase in the rate of Customs duty by 5 per cent on imports of two varieties of palmolein oil originating in Malaysia, for a period of 180 days, to safeguard the interests of domestic industry, says a notification on bilateral safeguard investigation issued by the DGTR under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as per a report.
