Concludes Record Breaking Performance in May 2017 for the Second Time in the Year

India’s first international transshipment gateway facility the India Gateway Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (IGTPL), operated by global trade enabler DP World witnessed another record breaking performance in May 2017. This is the second time in the year that the terminal has handled a record volume of over 47,000 TEU, breaking the record of more than 45000 TEU in March this year.

The terminal, maintaining its growth trajectory, witnessed a 19% increase in volume compared to the same time last year. IGTPL has continued to deliver an excellent average Gross Crane Rate (GCR) of 31 moves per hour and truck turnaround time of 25 minutes, gate-to-gate.

Commenting on achieving this breakthrough, Mr. Jibu Kurien Itty, Chief Executive Officer, DP World Cochin said, “We at DP World believe in providing unparalleled services to our customers and partners in the supply chain. We aim to continuously deliver high productivity at the terminal and ensure our customers witness a cohesive experience while working with us. This increase in volume is a result of the various initiatives undertaken by the port trust and the terminal in augmenting hinterland connectivity to neighbouring states, reducing transit time and logistics cost.”

DP World Cochin serves as the natural gateway to the vast industrial and agricultural produce markets of the South and West of India. The terminal is directly connected to other ports in Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Goa, Mangalore, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Katupalli, Krishnapatnam and Tuticorin through an array of feeder services offered at the terminal.
