Global trade enabler DP World operated Container Rail Road Service (CRRS) and leading CHA & freight forwarder AR Shipping together flagged off their maiden export block train from Ludhiana, Punjab to Mundra, Gujarat. The fully loaded train with AR Shipping’s export containers was flagged off by Mr. HK Khatana, Deputy Commissioner of Customs from ICD Dhandari Kalan, Ludhiana.
Through CRRS, DP World continuously works towards providing supply chain solutions that enhance reliability within the trade community and work as a catalyst towards increasing rail volumes. They provide value added services ‘beyond the terminal gates’ into customers’ logistics supply chain across India’s vast hinterland and enable seamless connectivity with faster connections.
Other dignitaries present during the flagging off were: Mr Amit Verma and Mr Rajesh Verma (Owners – AR Shipping), Mr. R M Srivastav (Chief Manager – CONCOR ICD), Mr. Rajat Gupta (Terminal Manager – CONCOR ICD), Mr Amit Parashar (Regional Manager, CRRS), Mr Anuraj Singh (Branch Manager, CRRS Ludhiana) and Mr Sunil Dutt (Manager – Operations, CRRS).
Speaking on this achievement Mr. Rizwan Soomar, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, DP World Subcontinent said, “At DP World, it is our constant endeavour to offer tailor-made solutions to our customers to solve their supply chain challenges and support their strategic growth ambitions. CRRS is a testimony to our commitment to offer trade solutions beyond the terminal gates and facilitate ease of doing business. We are diligently working towards strengthening this service further thus enabling trade and help customers expand their business.”
DP World CRRS has been granted a Category 1 licence by the Indian Railways, this enables DP World to run freight rail on all routes in India for a period of 20 years (from any port in India to the hinterland ICDs). This ensures the fastest possible access to the hinterland, significantly reducing the transit time for moving cargo to and from ICDs. These services operate on eco-friendly and energy-efficient modes of transport which warrant reduction in costs through railroad, and further ease congestion at ports and national highways.
