DPA marks milestone with berthing of Cape Vessel M.V. Golden Barnet

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) Kandla, has achieved another remarkable milestone by successfully berthing of the Cape vessel M.V. Golden Barnet at Cargo Jetty No. 6 on the night of 26th April 2025.

The vessel, with a LOA of 292 meters and a draft of 12.98 meters, carrying a substantial parcel of 96,587 MT, was berthed directly at the cargo jetty — marking the first direct berthing of a Cape-size vessel at Deendayal Port’s cargo jetty in the past four years. For context, the last Cape vessel berthed four years ago had a similar LOA but a comparatively lesser draft of 12.5 meters.

The Vessel was handled by Stevedores: Shree Ashapura Stevedores (A unit of Ashapura Shipping Group), Charterer was Aditya Birla Global Trading, CHA was Shri Balaji Infraport (A unit of Ashapura Shipping Group), and the Vessel Agent was Dariya Shipping.

This achievement highlights Deendayal Port’s commitment to enhancing operational capabilities, efficiency and service excellence. It was made possible through the collective efforts and seamless coordination among various departments.

This milestone was made possible due to the undertaking and firm commitment extended by Shree Ashapura Stevedores, who assured Deendayal Port Authority of achieving the required discharge rate by the next lower tide. Their proactive approach and operational excellence have been instrumental in the success of this berthing operation, and are duly appreciated by the Port Authority.
