GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of Essar with a fleet of over 300 LNG-powered trucks, is working for decarbonising heavy trucking, curbing harmful emissions, enhancing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance, and capitalising on economic benefits. Each of these trucks is a 55-tonne vehicle with a payload capacity of 40 tonnes.

Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, said, “LNG reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 30% compared to diesel, creating a win-win situation for both customers and the environment. With the right support from corporations and the government, we aim to deploy 5000 vehicles by the end of FY25 with an approximate investment of 5000 crores.”

Essar stated that its commitment extends beyond trucks to building a robust infrastructure supporting LNG adoption. Another group company of Essar named Ultra Gas & Energy Ltd is establishing a comprehensive network of Green Fuel Hubs nationwide, facilitating the efficient distribution of LNG.

“Gujarat’s strategic location and robust LNG infrastructure make it a key player in India’s LNG transportation sector. The state actively promotes natural gas usage and invests significantly in infrastructure development, solidifying its status as an LNG transportation hub. Essar’s commitment to Gujarat’s growth is evident through its contributions. Looking ahead, Essar intends to invest ₹55,000 crore in promoting sustainable businesses within the state’s energy transition, power, and port sectors,” the company said in a press statement.

As the infrastructure expands, LNG trucks will become a more viable option for long-distance travel, leading to faster adoption across industries and significantly reducing overall emissions.
