Essar Ports has decided to invest $70 million for the expansion of its Hazira facility by September 2020. The investment will include $20 million for the remaining works under the $450-million first phase of expansion, and the balance $50 million for the second phase that seeks to create ancillary facilities, said Essar Ports Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Agarwal. The first phase will focus on building the jetty which will be finished by March 2019 while the second phase will focus on erecting ship unloaders, conveyor belt, etc., he said, adding that it will take 18 months after the end of phase-I to complete phase-II.
