Ferdous Alam is the new BIWTC Chairman

Additional secretary SM Ferdous Alam joined the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation-BIWTC as its new chairman on March 28.

The officers and employees under the leadership of director administration and director technical congratulated the new chairman at his office.

Earlier, he served as additional secretary of Ministry of Shipping, said a press release.

SM Ferdous Alam graduated in 1988 from Bangladesh Agricultural University in Faculty of Agriculture. After completing his MSc in Horticulture in 1989, he joined BCS thirteenth batch’s administration (cadre) and held important responsibilities in field administration in different sectors.

He worked as assistant commissioner (lands), 1st class magistrate, magistrate of Fast Track Court, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, ADC (Revenue), ADC (Education), ADM, ADC (General), Deputy Director Local Government Department, senior assistant secretary of Rural Development Cooperative Department, Ministry of Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives and Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, deputy secretary of Roads and Highways Department, Ministry of Communications, Director, National Computer Training and Research (Nectar) Bogra, served as director, Directorate of Madrasas and Technical Education, joint secretary, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, additional secretary, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and Ministry of Shipping.

He visited India, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, USA, China and Saudi Arabia for higher education and training. His wife is a teacher they are blessed with two sons.
