In Hyderabad, India’s first wholly female-owned industrial park opened its doors. The park, which is being promoted by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) in collaboration with the State government, comprises 25 units that represent 16 different green category sectors, all of which are owned and controlled by women.

The FLO industrial park, the country’s first of its sort, was built on 50 acres at Sultanpur, near Patancheru, with a Rs 250 crore investment. Women entrepreneurs have already expressed a strong desire to launch and operate their businesses at the park. IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, who inaugurated the park on Tuesday, advised entrepreneurs to think big and start thinking about upcoming technology. He also requested that they concentrate on aerospace, defence, and food production, as well as form global partnerships.

He promised that the FLO women’s industrial park would be expanded by another 100 acres, subject to the park’s concentration on unique items. He also stated that women entrepreneurs will receive an additional 10% incentive. The Minister also stated that the state had attracted $32 billion in investments over the last seven and a half years, generating 1.6 million jobs.

The FLO industrial park exemplifies the power of women in the business, from electronics to packaging, medical devices, wellness, engineering, and food processing. The FLO and its members contributed a substantial amount of money to the construction of this park, with the government providing the roads, electricity, water, sewerage, and sub-station.

The park has also established amenities to provide a welcoming atmosphere for women, such as creches and playschools, by considering the needs of working women entrepreneurs. In Phase II, the FLO wants to establish similar multi-industry women industrial parks across the country, as well as a centre of excellence for skill development.

“The dream-to-reality of this project is the consequence of the cooperation from the government of Telangana,” said Uma Chigurupati, chairperson of FICCI FLO Hyderabad Chapter. We are pleased to announce the start of 25 green projects owned entirely by women, with many more in the works. In the first two years of operation, we expect this industrial park to generate around 1,600 jobs.”
