The vessel call of the CHX service by Maersk Line at the newly developed Adani Ennore Container Terminal at Kamarajar Port Ltd took place on October 20, 2018. The first mainline container vessel, M.V. Leonidio, berthed at AECTPL on the same day. It brought in 486 laden TEUs and carried 287 TEUs from KPL. Maersk Line plans to have a weekly call of the CHX service at the facility.

KPL has developed a dedicated railway siding for handling containers inside the port. It has also signed a co-user joint undertaking agreement with AECTPL for unloading/loading of boxes handled at the terminal. The first rake comprising 59 imported containers (28 TEUs and 31 FEUs) was evacuated from the KPL railway siding to ICD Whitefield, Bangalore on October 23. Container Corporation of India, the train operator, has scheduled regular services between the port and ICD Whitefield.
