Far Shipping (Singapore) reaffirms commitment to Kolkata trade
As committed earlier, Far Shipping Singapore (Pte) Ltd deployed their first Kolkata-Max vessel, MV FSL Singapore, making her maiden voyage to Kolkata Port on April 22, 2020.
The vessel was welcomed at Netaji Subhash Dock by Mr Vineet Kumar, I.R.S.E.E., Chairman, Kolkata Port Trust, along with Mr S. Balaji Arunkumar, IRTS, Deputy Chairman, KDS, Capt. Himanshu Shekhar, Traffic Manager, KDS, and key senior officials of Kolkata Port Trust.
The Kolkata-Max vessel, having dimensions of LOA 171.9 m, Beam 24.29 m and DWT 22,884 MT/1,500 TEUs capacity, is specifically designed to best suit Kolkata Port lock gate parameters, provide much enhanced efficiency and achieve at least 25% higher load ability at similar permitted draughts.
Having served the Kolkata trade for almost 2 decades now, this was a long-desired commitment of Far Shipping (Singapore) to introduce such environment-friendly Kolkata-Max vessels with Tier 3 engines and continue to serve the trade with much improved efficiency.
Far Shipping (Singapore) has also announced that the next Kolkata-Max vessel, MV FSL KELANG, is due for delivery around May 11 in Singapore and will be making her maiden voyage to Kolkata Port likely May 20.
Two other similarly designed vessels, MV FSL KOLKATA and MV FSL COLOMBO, will be commissioned during the course of this year.
