Soon, work will start on the third Ro-Ro boat that will be utilized in the Fort Kochi-Vypeen line. The agreement between the Kochi corporation and Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) was inked. There will be fewer service interruptions thanks to the third Ro-Ro. Currently, while one of the ships is being repaired or maintained, some services are cancelled. Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) would provide financial support for the Rs 14.9 crore building. Despite the fact that the construction was supposed to be finished in 18 months, CSL granted Mayor M. Anilkumar’s plea to finish the project in 12 months.

Civic authorities brought up the issue with CSL officials after several in the tourism industry voiced their displeasure with the noise levels of the current Ro-Ros. The design department was directed by CSL chairman Madhu S. Nair to take the appropriate action to address the issue. The MoU was signed on behalf of the corporation by Additional Secretary P S Shibu and on behalf of CSL by Director of Operations Sreejith K Narayanan. Among those attending the occasion were Ambily T. A., the company executive engineer, and Bijoy Bhaskar, the director of the technical department of CSL.
