In another milestone, GatewayRail recently added a new weekly dedicated train service for CMA CGM India from Pipavav Port to ICD Gurugram, ICD Faridabad and ICD Ludhiana, its North India Intermodal Terminals. This is the third weekly service for CMA CGM; two such services are being operated by GatewayRail on the Mundra Port-NCR-Punjab route for CMA CGM India since 2018, it said in a release.
The latest train service is a collaborative effort between GatewayRail, CMA CGM and APM Terminals Pipavav towards establishing a scheduled service regime for providing reliable service to shipping lines catering to their customers in North India.
GatewayRail is a pioneer in providing “Ship-to-Rail” dedicated services to all major shipping lines. It has undertaken this initiative for strengthening the joint effort with shipping lines through the premium “Ship-to-Rail” dedicated service in order to ensure timely evacuation of the imports of key customers who work on a tight schedule.
Mr Ugo Vincent, Managing Director, CMA CGM Agencies (India) Pvt. Ltd, received the inaugural service carrying CMA CGM import containers at a reception ceremony organised by GatewayRail at its Gurugram Intermodal Terminal on June 12, 2019. The occasion was also graced by Mr Sasi Nair, Area GM, North India, Mr Salim Mohammed, Head Logistics (CMA CGM), Mr Ajay Verma, General Manager (Commercial & Intermodal), APM Terminals, along with their teams.
Capt. Shantanu Bhattacharya, Vice-President EXIM Sales, Mr Rajguru Behgal, Business Head, ICD Gurugram, Mr Lalit Lahori, VP, Rail Operations, Ms Samta Kamra, DGM Liner Service, and Mr Ashish Jhunjhunwala, Business Head, ICD Faridabad, were also present on the occasion, said the release.
