GMR Infrastructure Ltd said that a consortium it leads has won two projects to build parts of India’s upcoming eastern cargo rail corridor, adding up to 221km, at a cost of Rs.2,280.70 crore. The consortium has received a so-called letter of award to build the projects on an engineering, procurement and construction basis, GMR said. The eastern dedicated freight corridor (DFC) project, running from West Bengal to Punjab, is financed by the World Bank. The consortium beat five rivals to win the global bids for the project in April, GMR said in a statement.
