Following the announcement of integrated logistics and logistics parks policy last year, the Gujarat government is now developing integrated logistics development and management schemes for eight municipal corporations of the state, which include Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Junagadh. The Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) has directed all the eight municipal authorities to prepare short and long term city logistics management plans. The state government has also engaged private consultants to prepare logistics management plans for all the eight municipal corporations. The agencies will study logistics challenges during cargo movement in the cities. Local logistics handling schemes for each city will be prepared to ease pressure on city infrastructure. GIDB is also in the process of developing an integrated logistics master plan for the state that will focus on all modes of transport – road, ports and air.  It will map short and long term logistics needs and will aid in developing integrated logistics parks.
