Habben Jansen, a Dutch national, has been in charge of Hapag-Lloyd for the last 10 years and now has a contract in place through to the end of March 2029.

“Rolf Habben Jansen has been doing an excellent job for Hapag-Lloyd for almost a decade. During this time, he has continuously evolved the company strategically, significantly internationalised it and kept it safely on a growth course despite occasionally rough seas,” said Michael Behrendt, chairman of the company’s supervisory board.

Hapag-Lloyd recently became just the fifth liner in history to surpass the 2m slot fleet mark. From next year the company will part ways with its Asian peers in THE Alliance and link up with Maersk to create the Gemini Cooperation.
