Hapag Lloyd announces the 24 hour manifest rule into Sri Lanka

For customers shipping into Sri Lanka, here is an important update for import and transhipment cargo planning. From May 1, 2024, the manifest details and shipping instructions’ submission timelines have been modified.

To ensure that customers familiarize with these changes, Hapag Lloyd has summarized the important aspects below:

  • The customs manifest details must be submitted by the last loading port before reaching Sri Lanka at least 24 hours before the vessel’s departure.
  • Customer’s shipping instructions must be submitted 24 hours before the vessel’s arrival at the loading port.
  • In case a booking has missing or incomplete information, the containers associated to it will regretfully not be loaded.

The customs manifest details submission is linked to the implementation of ASYHUB by the Sri Lankan Customs Authorities whereby the system and process demand a change to the previously existing procedure.
