The corridor will connect the city with four ports in Gujarat via Rajasthan. The ministry is going to carry out a INR 3.1 crore survey for the semi-high speed rail corridor, but it will take years before construction begins.

Once completed the corridor can run trains at a speed of up to 130-160kmph.

“After construction of the corridor, Haryana will have direct connectivity with four ports of Gujarat – – Kandla, Mundra, Navlakhi and Jakhau — through this railway line. It will indirectly help connect Delhi with the four ports,” said Arvind Sharma, MP, Rohtak.

Approved by the Haryana government in 2022, the corridor will be built from Farrukhnagar in Gurgaon to Loharu in Bhiwani via Jhaiiar and Charkhi Dadri at an estimated cost of Rs 1,225 crore.

Eventually, it will be interconnected with Bahadurgarh and Sonipat in Haryana through the under-construction Orbital Rail Corridor. There are already existing railway lines with Delhi, and onwards to Rajasthan and Gurgaon that will be linked the with Farrukhnagar-Loharu track.

Jhajjar will have six stations, including Dadri Toa, MP Majra, Chuchukwas, Matanhail and Biroha-Khacharoli.

The project is a joint venture between the Indian Railways and the Haryana government and will be executed by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC).

HRIDC is currently constructing the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), which will connect Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar and Kharkhoda.

The broad-gauge railway line will run passenger and goods trains.

The project aims to reduce travel time for the region with the industrial hubs. The completion of the project will shorten the route to Gujarat from Delhi-NCR.

The travel time between Delhi to Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, apart from Delhi to Gandhidham, Bhuj and Dwarka in Gujara will be reduced.

At present, trains from Delhi go to Rajasthan via Rewari.

The railway ministry has also approved a final survey of a double line between Gadi Harsuru to Loharu via Sultanpur Farrukhnagar, Jhajjar and Charkhi Dadri, the MP said.
