February 10, 2017 was a Red Letter day for ICD Wardha when it commenced its first exim rail operations to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP). The inaugural trip was flagged off by Mr Om Ahuja, Director, Uttam Galva Metallics Ltd, in the presence of Mr Sidharth C. Jena, Director, Seagull Maritime Agencies Pvt. Ltd and others.
ICD Wardha’s 27-acre area with full rail siding has been developed by Worlds Window Wardha Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd (WWWIPL), a subsidiary of the Delhi-based Worlds Window Group which has over 10 years of experience in successfully running the No. 1 private ICD facility at Loni (Ghaziabad). Currently, ICD Wardha is facilitating bulk material handling solutions to major steel and cotton yarn manufacturers as well as many rice exporters, said a release.
The twice-a-week rail service from ICD Wardha has commenced with support from shipping lines. The WW Group plans to increase the frequency in future while connecting to other ports like Hazira and Krishnapatnam.
Among the other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Mr R. S. Ladda, President, Mahalaxmi TMT Pvt. Ltd, Mr Sumit Garg, Head Marketing, Mr Vinkal Bansal, Sales Manager, Seagull Maritime, and Mr Rohit Sethi, M&R Head, Seagull Maritime.
ICD Wardha, the 3rd ICD by WWG after Loni and ICD Bawal (Rewari), has been developed to cater to the logistics needs of Vidarbha, Telangana and some parts of MP and Chhatisgarh. Located at a distance of 75 km from Nagpur on the recently-sanctioned 6-lane Nagpur-Mumbai Corridor, its rail access is provided by the MLSW PFT falling on the Nagpur-Hyderabad rail line.
ICD Wardha provides facilities such as categorised warehouses, break-bulk, containerised and dry cargo storage to its customers through round-the-clock services. It has a 30,000 sq. ft state-of-art warehousing space and world class infrastructure. The ICD also supports customers in Raipur, in Gondhiam and Butibori industrial areas, the release said.
