The volume of Chinese commodities imported via the Rasuwagadhi transit is expected to grow. According to the District Administration Office, during ‘virtual’ meetings between the border officials of Rasuwa and Jilung Province in Kerung, an agreement was made to boost the volume of Chinese commodities transported into Nepal via transit.
Nawaraj Jaisi, the Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, said attempts to resolve Nepali entrepreneurs’ concerns about increasing imports, which have been dropping owing to COVID-19 infection, had been fruitful. He stated that starting later this month, 14 containers will be delivered to Rasuwagadhi daily, up from nine previously. Enthusiasm among traders and businesspersons has increased as the import volume of Chinese goods has increased. Entrepreneurs have said that 28 Nepali containers are expected to get daily employment after 14 large Chinese containers started arriving in Rasuwagadhi daily.
