India debuts pineapple exports to UAE

A debut consignment comprising 8.7 metric tons (650 boxes) of MD 2 pineapples has been dispatched from JNPA to UAE.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has announced the export of the debut consignment of new premium quality MD 2 variety pineapples to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The consignment comprises of 8.7 metric tons (650 boxes) of MD 2 pineapples.

ICAR CCARI provided the much needed technical guidance for post-harvest management and compliance with the sea protocol for the MD 2 pineapple produced in the Sindhudurg district of the Konkan region in Maharashtra. The pineapples were graded, sorted, packed, and stored in Panvel, Navi Mumbai, from where, the consignment was transported to Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
