India is going to bring Integrated Check Post (ICP) into operation along Nepal-India border at Birgunj-Raxaul check point starting Friday whereas Nepali is yet to prepare necessary infrastructure for ICP on its side.
However, Nepali businessmen say that they are unlikely to get benefited from the ICP due to failure of Nepali authorities in completing necessary infrastructure. The importers have requested the Indian authorities to wait for some to till the completion of the ICP at the Nepali side as the ICP in the Indian side alone will create hurdles in the import and export business. So far, on 69 percent of the ICP infrastructure in the Nepal side has been completed and it is assumed to take another five to six months for it to be ready.
