In order to decarbonise the Indian shipping sector, Indian flagged tonnage can now use 30% biofuel blends as this will reduce GHG emissions and other pollutants like SO2, proceeding towards the vision of achieving net zero by 2070. This move is part of broader efforts to meet international climate goals and enhance India’s environmental stewardship on the global stage. The Indian shipping sector is gradually shifting towards cleaner energy sources, reducing environmental impact from maritime activities and ensuring a greener future for maritime transportation.
