Key goods affected by the political turmoil include chemicals, footwear, textiles, engineering products and food articles. Typically, 20-25 containers are sent to Kolkata from Kanpur for exporting to Bangladesh, and leather products dominate the trade. Around 100 businesses who export to Bangladesh have suspended their shipments.
