India’s South East Central Railway (SECR) ran the Super Vasuki freight train, which is the longest and heaviest freight train ever was operated on August 15 as part of the Government’s Azadika Amrit Mahotsav celebration.
Super Vasuki is a 3.5 km long Pentahaul with 295 loaded wagons and a trailing load of approximately 27,000 tonnes. Earlier in June, SECR operated a record long-hail Vatsuki and Trishul trains, respectively.
AzadiKaAmritMahotsav is Government of India’s initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the history of its people, culture and achievements.

Great to hear about the experimental efforts of running multi-rake hauling. Congratulaion to Team-IR.
However, looking into the present infrastructure, it may take take some more time for regular operation of such rakes, as running of one such rake impacts all other rakes running in that line. But future looks bright.
