India’s National Logistics Policy 2022 has made significant strides in improving the country’s logistics sector, said Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in the Lok Sabha. Key achievements include:
- Digitalization: The Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) and Logistics Data Bank (LDB) have streamlined processes and improved transparency.
- Infrastructure Development: Investments in multimodal logistics parks, dedicated freight corridors, and air cargo facilities are enhancing connectivity and efficiency.
- Skill Development: The government is focused on developing a skilled workforce to meet the industry’s growing needs.
- Sustainability: Initiatives like the Freight GHG Calculator and Rail Green Points are promoting eco-friendly logistics practices.
These efforts have led to a significant improvement in India’s ranking in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index. The government’s continued focus on digitalization, infrastructure development, and sustainability will further strengthen India’s position as a global logistics hub.
