After halving the rent, the government has been inundated with requests from potential investors to set up industries in the Bhairahawa SEZ. Investors’ prospects have also improved as a result of the opening of a new international airport in Bhairahawa, which is likely to boost the local economy, according to officials. Officials said that because of the lower rental rates and the modern airport, prospective investors have grown interested in establishing plants in the SEZ, which has been largely deserted since it was founded two decades ago. The SEZ was created with the goal of increasing exports, and businesses benefit from a variety of benefits and streamlined services.
Bhairahawa SEZ contains 69 industrial plots ranging in size from 1,400 to 3,700 square metres. Among them, 45 plots have remained unsold since the beginning. Gautam Buddha International Airport is slated to open on May 16 coinciding with the holiday of Buddha Purnima.
