Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has awarded a Rs 284 crore contract to a consortium of Man Infraconstruction and Trident Agrocom Exports for the development of an export-import cum domestic agriculture commodity-based processing and storage facility at JNPA. The project will be constructed on a 27-acre land parcel within the port complex.

Once operational, the facility is expected to handle about 1.2 million tonne of cargo annually, significantly contributing to the country’s agro trade by improving the processing, storage, and transportation infrastructure for agricultural commodities.

This is India’s first one-of-its-kind facility provided by JN port. It is designed to provide comprehensive services including processing, sorting, packing, and laboratory facilities, emphasising its commitment to ensuring compliance with food safety and trade regulations and shall cater to the agricultural commodities not only of Maharashtra but also of other states such as Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The project had received approval from Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal on July 16, 2024.
