Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority has become the top port in India in terms of import/export dwell time, reveals latest report by NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDS). “Our import dwell time has improved to 19 hours, which earlier used to be 26 hours,” the port Chairman informed. For all other ports in the country, including private ports, the import dwell time is above 45 hours.
On the export side the dwell time at JNPA is 74-75 hours, as compared to 120-130 hours taken by other ports. On both the indicators we are number one, informed Sanjay Sethi, Chairman of the port. Internationally, 18-19 hours of the import dwell time is considered to be excellent, but I don’t want to be unrealistic, said the port chairman.
