JNPT records further improvement in performance during first quarter of 2017-18

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) continued its growth momentum in the first quarter of the current financial year by clocking a 5.11 per cent growth in container traffic by handling at 1.20 million TEUs as compared to 1.14 million TEUs in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.

JNPCT handled 4.01 lakh TEUs in the latest quarter compared to 3.99 lakh TEUs in the corresponding quarter of the last year with 0.5% growth. Among the four terminals under JNPT, APM Terminal handled 4.99 lakh TEUs up 14.5 per cent and NSIGT handled 1.34lakh TEUs as compared to 1.17 lakh TEUs in last year.

JNPT maintained its impressive performance of recent months in the first quarter of the current financial year by handling a total volume of 16.35 million tonnes as compared to 15.90 million tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year with register of 2.8% growth.

Inter terminal TT movements in the 1st quarter of the month saw 44,389 trucks and 55,498 transactions which saved about 3.33 lakh km and Rs 72.13 lakh worth fuel.
Besides, the export dwell time by road has touched 70 hours, and the import dwell time has touched 29 hours.

Commenting on the first quarter performance, Shri Neeraj Bansal, Deputy Chairman said “JNPT has been showing all round improvement in its performance for the last few quarters and the current quarter performance is in line with our expectations. We are confident that JNPT will be achieving another year of excellent performance during this financial year”.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
