Kamarajar Port handles break-bulk export

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The maiden consignment of granite blocks weighing approximately 3,500 tonnes arrived at Kamarajar Port through railway wagons on August 4, 2017. They were then exported through the first vessel, M.V. Ultra Africa, that called at Chettinad International Bulk Terminal at the Port on August 5.

Kamarajar Port Ltd (KPL) had awarded the concession for development of multi-cargo terminal, with capacity of 2 mtpa for cargoes such as granite blocks, timber logs, grains, bagged cargoes, including sugar, cobblestones, steel cargoes and project cargoes, through Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis to Chettinad International Bulk Terminal Pvt. Ltd (CIBTPL) for a period of 30 years. The terminal has wharf length of 270 m, stackyard area of 32 acres and railway siding platforms. The facility was inaugurated by the Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways on June 9 this year.

KPL has provided the railway siding at a cost of Rs 33.97 crore for the evacuation of break-bulk cargoes handled at CIBTPL[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
