The Wagon Repair Workshop in Kazipet previously tasked with undertaking Periodic Overhaul (POH) of 200 wagons per month now has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art Railway Manufacturing Unit.
The decision to elevate the scope of the workshop was primarily driven by multiple factors, including the persistent demands from political leaders to promote industry and support manufacturing initiatives.
Additionally, the Indian Railways’ augmented demand for wagons played a crucial role in this strategic decision. One of the key changes implemented in the conversion process is the layout reconfiguration. The manufacturing capacity of the newly established unit is set to produce 1,200 wagons in first year and 2400 in the subsequent year.
