Kerala CM launches four new Water Metro terminals

As part of extending Water Metro services to more areas of Kochi, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated four new Water Metro terminals.

New terminals were opened at South Chittoor, Mulavukad North, Cheranelloor and Eloor. Regular passenger services of the electric-hybrid Water Metro boats connecting these terminals would begin on Sunday morning.

While virtually inaugurating the terminals chief minister said that Water Metro is providing world class travel experience to local passengers and tourists and it will elevate the standard of living of people of Kochi. He said at least one lakh people would be benefited from the extension of services.

Industries minister P Rajeeve said Water Metro will bring revolutionary changes in Kochi and all islands of Kochi would become tourist attractions soon. He said that DTPC is planning to launch a new tourist boat service in Kochi backwaters soon. An amount of Rs 94.5 lakh has been earmarked for the development of Eloor ferry. PWD minister P A Mohamed Riyas, revenue minister K Rajan and mayor M Anilkumar spoke at the function.
