It was a historic day for Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) and Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT) on August 21, 2018, when they signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for connecting Kandla with various ICDs under the control of CONCOR.

The partnership between CONCOR and KICT began on February 9, 2018 when the first CONCOR rake arrived from ICD Jodhpur with 80 units of laden boxes meant for coastal movement. Today, with this agreement, the partnership has been extended to the exim sphere as well, covering the leading ICDs of Ludhiana, Tughlakabad, Khodiyar, Khanej, etc. among many others.

The container train services by CONCOR shall run regular or weekly between KICT and various ICDs with an assured arrangement of prompt reception by KICT of the incoming CONCOR trains at the rail yard from the serving station, and returning to the serving station for onward movement with the import loads meant for various ICDs within a duration of 48 hours.

This will help the trade to book import shipments ex-Kandla to various ICDs and send export shipments from the hinterlands of India to different parts of the world.

The MoU was signed by Mr Sanjay Swarup, Director, International Marketing and Operations, CONCOR, in the presence of Mr V. Kalyana Rama, Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR, and by Mr Dhruv Kotak, Joint Managing Director, J. M. Baxi Group, on behalf of Kandla International Container Terminal. This marked the beginning of a potent and limitless partnership.

On the occasion, the KICT and J. M. Baxi Group officials thanked Mr Paresh Agarwal, Senior General Manager, International Marketing, Mr Vidyasagar, Senior Manager, International Marketing, and other officials from CONCOR for their continuous support to KICT throughout its journey.
