Kochi Water Metro Ltd (KWML) will open two terminals at Kadamakudy and Pizhala soon. The terminal works are in the final stages. KWML sources said the Kadamakudy services will be launched after the services to the Mattancherry and Willingdon Island areas, which will be inaugurated within a month. At present, residents rely on ferry and jangar services for commuting between Kadamakudy and Pizhala regions.

In Kadamakudy, road access is limited to inhabitants of major islands such as Valiya Kadamakudy, Chennur, Kothad and Korampadam, enabling them to reach city centres. As part of Moolampilly-Chathanad road project, the Moolampilly-Pizhala bridge and Pizhala connectivity bridges have come into existence. However, the existing road on the Pizhala island is not adequate for vehicular traffic. Water Metro connectivity from South Chittoor region to Kadamakudy is expected to attract a large number of tourists to the island area.
