To make users aware of the various functionalities of the PCS 1x Port Community System, as part of an ease of doing business initiative of the government of India, Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT), in association with Indian Ports Association (IPA), organised a user interaction roadshow for the newly revamped all-India PCS at Kolkata on July 8, 2019.
Mr Vinit Kumar, Chairman, Kolkata Port Trust, inaugurated the roadshow, in the presence of Mr Rajeev Puri, CAO, IPA, and addressed the trade partners. He requested their cooperation in adopting the system for the benefit of the maritime trade.
He pointed out that the new PCS 1x integrates all the users—ports, terminal operators, Customs and other partnering government agencies—in a single national platform for better data exchange between the stakeholders. With PCS 1x, the port and Customs documents and the user application shall be completely made online through a single national portal where the users can register themselves and transact with ports and other agencies.
Mr Puri presented the current updates on usage and the upcoming technical aspects for users.
IPA, in association with the Major Ports, is striving hard to achieve a common integrated national portal for data exchange in shipping. The Kolkata roadshow was among a series of events being organised across the Major Ports to make users aware of the various functionalities of PCS, said a release.
