At least ten individuals were hurt in a conflict between two factions of the Benapole Land port Handling Labour Union on Monday, as both sought to take control. The event caused the port’s operations to come to a standstill for three hours. Two people have been arrested as a result of this investigation. During the fight, supporters of local politician Sheikh Afil Uddin and Benapole Municipality Mayor Ashraful Alam detonated bombs. According to witnesses and police, some outsiders headed by former port handling labour union secretary and Benapole Municipality councillor Rashed Ali entered the port and detonated bombs while port workers were loading and unloading. At the time, the port workers objected, and the outsiders abandoned the port.
