The first green Hydrogen plant in Madhya Pradesh has been established by GAIL, marking a step forward in achieving the objectives of National Green Hydrogen Mission. The plant has an installed capacity of producing 4.3 tonnes of Hydrogen per day, by utilising a 10 MW proton exchange membrane Electrolyzer which has been imported from Canada. The electrolyzer performs electrolysis of water using renewable energy to produce green Hydrogen with a purity of 99.999%.

India has a mega goal to develop an annual green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million tonnes by 2030. According to GAIL, this Green Hydrogen plant can produce 4.3 TPD of hydrogen. Initially, the hydrogen manufactured by this plant will be utilised in captive operations in various processes at the existing plant in Vijaipur. In future, Hydrogen will also be supplied to retail customers in nearby regions.

On similar lines, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is also installing a green hydrogen plant which will be located at its refinery in Mathura. The vision is to replace grey hydrogen with green hydrogen for manufacturing cleaner fuels.

Reliance Industries will soon inaugurate the ‘Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex,’ which will be spread on a 5,000 acres area in Jamnagar. It is reported that the facility will number among  the largest integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities in the world. This complex will also include facilities for green hydrogen production.
